Reflexology
- the Dermatomes on the frontside
(zones on the skin referred to the spinal levels)
The
dermatomes refer to the zones of the skin and subcutaneous connective
tissue which are assigned to the respective spinal levels (segments).
Dermatomes were among the first major achievements of modern neurology.
This enabled Henry Head to explain the segmental structure of our
peripheral nervous system with its connections to the skin. Later,
these fundamental knowledges have been supplemented by findings on the
autonomic nervous system.
The dermatomes are used primarily in the neural therapy and the
connective tissue massage, since these treatments allow us
to switch over vegetative organ functions.
